Both plans meet the legal insurance requirements under Article 7 of the Law of Ukraine on Insurance and are accepted at every Ukrainian border checkpoint. The difference is what happens when you actually need to use the policy.

What each line actually means
Coverage Amount
The maximum your insurer will pay for medical treatment. A hospital stay in Ukraine costs foreign nationals €200–€800 per day without insurance. The Basic plan's 100,000 UAH (~€2,300) covers most short-stay emergencies. The Advanced plan's €30,000 covers serious situations including surgery, ICU admission, and extended hospitalisation.
Emergency Hospitalisation
If you are admitted to hospital, the insurer pays the bills directly — you do not pay out of pocket first. Call the emergency number on your policy PDF before going, so the insurer can authorise and coordinate treatment in advance.
Emergency Evacuation
If the nearest hospital cannot adequately treat your condition, the insurer covers medical transport to one that can. This is evacuation to the nearest appropriate medical facility within Ukraine — not evacuation out of the country.
War Risk Coverage (Advanced only)
Covers medical treatment for injuries caused by military conflict: shelling, explosions, armed incidents, and radiation exposure. It does not cover property damage, evacuation from conflict zones, or injuries from voluntarily engaging in military activity. It is medical coverage only.
Which plan should I choose?
The Advanced Plan is recommended for anyone travelling to Ukraine right now. War risk and radiation coverage add meaningful protection in the current security environment — the extra cost is €0.60/day compared to Basic.
The Basic Plan satisfies the minimum legal requirement and covers standard medical emergencies. It is suitable for very short visits (3–5 days) where the primary need is border compliance at the lowest cost.
Both plans are accepted at every Ukrainian border crossing, airport, seaport, and embassy worldwide.
